Facebook Rant about Emigration is Making Headlines All Over the World

A South African’s Facebook post has recently gone viral as he rants about the current emigration, immigration, and refugee crisis taking place around the world.

The twist with Emlyn Pearce’s post though, is he points to the current refugee situation taking place in locations where there are no civil wars, or need to flee. Pearce, aged 33, is a writer currently living in London, and took to social media to respond to the current media coverage in the UK.

“Emigration is completely out of control in this country, and I'm sick of it. I'm not staying quiet anymore,” writes Pearce. “You can't walk down a street in Jamaica or Hong Kong or India without hearing someone speaking English, and in Canada and Australia we have even introduced our own legal system, decimated local communities and installed our own head of state!”

The rant has drawn the attention of hundreds of thousands as it has been shared thousands of times and can be found all over Facebook. Comments and feedback about the post has been mixed, but seemly positive as Pearce shines a light on the reality of emigration around the world. Specifically to those who don’t consider themselves, or their family as immigrants.

“Any British person can just pack their bags and go and live anywhere in the world at ANY TIME and nobody in the British government will do anything to stop them,” Pearce continues. “If I wanted to, I could just get on a plane to Germany tomorrow, get a job in their booming economy and live there for the rest of my life!”

Pearce has even responded to many of the comments on his post in which people question the validity of his comments. While some miss the point of his post, there are plenty who understand the sarcasm and point that Pearce is trying to make.
