Man taken to hospital after overnight mobile home fire in Kelowna

A man has been taken to hospital after a structure fire in Kelowna overnight.

The Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) said in a bulletin that it was called to a fire on the 1800 block of Watson Road just before 1:30 am this morning.

The fire “turned out to be a mobile home with an addition,” Platoon Captain Scott Clarke said in his statement.

He added: “Fire crews were able to bring the blaze under control quickly and confine it to the original structure; however, the structure was heavily damaged.”

There was only one occupant, a man, inside the home. He was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

No firefighters were hurt.

Clarke said the cause of the fire “has yet to be determined.”
