Meet Carly Harding. Carly has lived in Kamloops for 8 years. She has a thing for all things sweet, she owns her own pastry company. When she isn't making mouth watering goodies, you can probably find her eating her own or someone else's culinary creations!
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I’m from the Sunshine Coast originally and have lived in Kamloops for 8 years now.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My family! They are everything to me and my life is fulfilled with them in it.
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Wow that’s hard to answer, I go to so many stores for my favourite items. Green Grocery for veggies and fruit.
Describe yourself in one word.
Sugary! Sweet and coarse.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Paris so I can eat so many incredible items from chocolates to Macarons, croissants bread. Oh the list can go on and on.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Eating.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I once took my shirt off thinking my bathing suit top was on underneath!! It wasn’t lol.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I’m most inspired when I hear how much people love my food, or that it brought up a memory from their past. Something your mom or grandparents made for you.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Making pork pot pies with my grandpa. I still make them today. Not as great as my grandpas.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We did the desserts for the pink ribbon ball last year. This year we’re working with a local music program.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Bullying.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
My bath.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
More support in small business not just big box store.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Small local business.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Traveling to Europe.
Opening a pastry store front.
Buying a home.

I sleep 8 hours a day.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
How do they not connect with me. It’s so easy these days. Email, phone, Instagram, Facebook, messenger.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Gold Leaf Pastries LTD.
Why did you get into/start this business?
To make people happy through food.
What is the goal of your business?
To have a store front.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Finding time for a personal life while running a business.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Perfect.

Put one foot in front of the other and walk.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Melissa Coppel she is a chocolatier in Vegas running her school. I will go take her classes.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Supporting local businesses keep the money cycle in Kamloops.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Opening my business.
