Meet Hannah Mason! Hannah is from Sweeden but has lived in Kamloops for over a year. She is a positive woman who loves to hike and spend time with her family!
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I’ve lived in Kamloops for a year and a half, and before that, we lived in Ontario for 5 years. But originally I’m from Sweden and moved to Canada in 2012.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband and my kids - hands down! Family time is why I started this business, so we could escape the 9-5 and be together living life through passion!
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Castles and Cottages - you can find so many neat things and something for every mood.
Describe yourself in one word.
Positive!
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would take my family to Costa Rica! I would snorkel and dive and spend time in the sun just playing with the kids!
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Hiking with my family!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
The most embarrassing thing... I can’t think of one specific moment, I do so much crazy stuff. But as far as embarrassing goes, we all make mistakes and I don’t think that much is embarrassing, if you can laugh at yourself you’re way better off in life!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I See inspiration every day! There are so many people out there who decide to take charge of their future. I have had so many inspiring moments myself but I truly like it best when I can help people turn their own life into their inspiration! It’s such an empowering moment when I see people who have been struggling to make ends meet for so long, to turn around and say “I did it”
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Travelling with my parents! They’ve always gone on one trip a year with me and my siblings. It’s been so amazing to have those experiences and spent that time together!
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Since I started this business, working from my phone, I’ve been able to volunteer a lot at my son's school, Aberdeen Elementary! It’s so great to see the kids work together and see how they all work in a group setting.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
For more people to be able to live life through passion!
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Cinnamon ridge or the mall lol.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
Riverside Park. My kids found pills and needles on the ground. It’s a wonderful park but I don’t want my kids to be in danger when we’re going to have a good time.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
All the things there are to do outside!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
To see South America, too show my kids the African savanna, and Disney World.

I have seen all the continents except Australia and South America.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I wanted our family to be able to spend more time together and escape the 9-5 grind. I want to be able to give my kids all I ever wanted them to have and be able to see an empowered strong mom!
What is the goal of your business?
To empower and help people, to live life through passion, time, and freedom, and for them to make their passion their paycheque!
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
To be a stay at home mom with a husband who travels for work and does not have family around in this area.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"Life is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself."

If you want to see the change, you have to be the change!
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My Brother! He always puts me in such a great state of mind!
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
When you support local businesses you make someone do a little happy dance in the break room!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
By starting this business and creating a new future for my Family! A new light and inspiration within myself I didn’t know I had!

Sweet Home Cafe - my kids always leave so happily when we have been there to play. they truly go above and beyond in taking care of the kids!
