Meet Jason. Jason has lived near Kamloops for 2 years. Jason took his passion for pastries and created a donut formula, which lead to owning and operating a delicious donut company called Saorsa.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife, she's pretty cool.
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
High Octane Comics, the staff make the store.
Describe yourself in one word.
Ninja.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Scotland, to bake with Ross Baxter.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Hanging out with good friends.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I don't get embarrassed.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Realizing that there are still people willing to lend a hand and expect nothing in return.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I really don't remember it.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We support our oldest boy. When he was 5 years old he started a Christmas food drive called 'Hungry Tummies.' The event has really grown over the last 6 years and now he raises hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds of food for those in need. He currently donates to New Life Community.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Bullying.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
A quiet river in the mountains.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
The homeless population. It's rampant for a country that has so much.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Access to so many great outdoor activities in any season.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
A Nascar race, travelling North America in a Winnebago, staying in a castle in Scotland.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have a weakness for adopting chickens needing a fresh start.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Saorsa.
Why did you get into/start this business?
After 20 years in my trade, I lost my job. I met this woman that made me an offer I’d only ever dreamt of, to start a Pastry Chef apprenticeship. Together we developed a donut formula to take to the Kamloops Farmers Market and help us get back on our feet.
What is the goal of your business?
To provide for my family and make great donuts.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
I live with Kidney Disease from a workplace injury, I've had 2 transplants.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Oy!

Failure isn't an option.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Local businesses are the foundation of every community.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My drummer boy, my golden haired girl and my wee boy.
