Meet Melissa. She's lived in Kamloops since she was 4, apart from 7 years of backpacking abroad after high school!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My amazing husband and children, I can't pick just one. They are all my favs.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Jardines Domain, I love to spoil myself once in a while.

Describe yourself in one word.
Energetic

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
The Bahamas. That's where we had our honeymoon and can't wait to go back and bring our family we have created since then.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I love that we can hike everywhere in the summer. We are so close to the lake and spend so much time at Sun Peaks. Kamloops has so much to offer for my children and I absolutely love all the parks and activities.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
When I was able to set a goal later in life and achieved it. I earned my free Lexus and never in a million years did I think I could. I love that I have begun to set goals and dream again, and show my children that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I was involved with Horse 4-H for the majority of my childhood and love what it provided. Spending so much time with my family every weekend attending events.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I love to give back. I donate a lot to Mamas for Mamas. Love to put together care packages for Mamas in need. Big Brothers and Big Sisters is my favourite non-profit that I donate to monthly and raise money for throughout the year.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
To change the world we need to have more love and peace. I feel there is so much negativity and we just need to come together and be HAPPY. Then everyone would feel more at ease and have more peace. Being happy is the key.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Have a staycation with my husband at Hotel 540, it's a great summer spot.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I would love to see more community events and maybe some more options for shopping.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
It really stands out to me as the best place to raise a young family. So many friendly people, great customer service at stores and a laid-back community.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Own an oceanfront house
2. Travel to one country in Europe with my family in the summer for a month at a time
3. Fitness competition

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I eat chocolate once a day.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Nerium International

Why did you get into/start this business?
I loved the products and wanted to have skin I loved again. I started the business initially to get my products for free then ended up seeing the business opportunity. It was a chance for me to be a stay at home mama forever and help others.

What is the goal of your business?
My goal is to help as many women as I can. Either falling love with their skin again, building an empire or achieving goals such as making $500 a month to help with their family.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle is that a lot of people don't understand network marketing and are negative towards it. Why not buy your skin and wellness products online as well as everything else. This way you are supporting not just the big corporations.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Network marketing is not a pyramid scheme.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Slow down and enjoy all the moments. If you ask someone how they are nowadays and they say "BUSY" it drives me wild. Life can get busy, but you are in control of how busy it is. Life is too short for it to fly by being busy all the time.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Jessica Alba, she is very inspirational.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I love to keep our money in the community so that we don't see them closing down.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
The day I married my husband, and the day both of my babies where born. Also the day I achieved my free Lexus and highest rank with Nerium.
