Additional lots of a multivitamin for pregnant women have been identified in a recall, says Health Canada.
The vitamins, which were produced by JAMP, are being recalled due to an excess of N-nitroso-folic acid.
The affected vitamins were sold in Alberta, BC, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
Earlier this month, Health Canada issued a recall for blue tablets, from lot LKE08 of the “Pregnancy Multivitamin” product.
That included Folic acid 1.1 mg, Vitamin B12 12 mcg, Vitamin D3 600 IU and Calcium 300 mg.
On Wednesday, that recall was expanded to lots LKE05, LKE07, LKE09.
In addition, the “Pregnancy Multivitamin Folic 5” was added to the recall.
That includes dark blue tablets only for Folic acid 5 mg, Vitamin B12 12 mcg, Vitamin D3 600 IU and Calcium 300 mg.
The affected lots include LKE10, LKE11, LKE14.
Women taking the product should consult with their doctor before they stop taking the vitamins and then contact JAMP.
