A batch of multivitamins for pregnant women has been recalled because they contain an excessive amount of N-nitroso-folic acid.
Health Canada said the supplements, produced by JAMP, were sold in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
The following blue tablets, from lot LKE08 of the “Pregnancy Multivitamin” product, are affected:
Folic acid 1.1 mg
Vitamin B12 12 mcg
Vitamin D3 600 IU
Calcium 300 mg
Health Canada said that lot “exceeds the acceptable intake limit for N-nitroso-folic acid.”
The department said women should consult their health care professional before they stop using the product.
They should then speak to JAMP.
Women can also report side effects to Health Canada.
