After cancelling a number of flights in anticipation of a potential mechanics’ strike, WestJet and the union representing said mechanics will resume talks instead. Set to walk off the job as early as Thursday night, the mechanics’ union has rescinded its strike notice.

A new report published by the National Institute for Scientific Research has found that high temperatures in the spring and summer months are linked to an estimated 470 deaths. Beyond the mortalities, it's also linked to 225 hospitalizations, 36,000 ER visits and 7,200 ambulance trips, which puts a strain on the province’s struggling healthcare system.
