Construction is under way at the 7,000 square foot Yew Street Food Hall located in The Colours on Spirit Square.
The Yew Food Hall is set to open in late summer or early fall and will be able to seat over 220 people at full capacity (with the hope for outdoor seating as well).
Eight of the 10 food stalls have already been claimed and are ready for opening day.
“We had an excellent response when we first announced the concept,” explains Mitton.
“We believe our food hall will become a go-to spot in Kamloops because of the diversity of vendors and their menu offerings, all in one vibrant location.”
One of those vendors will be Chef Govinda Clayton with Veggie Bomb which features a “vegefied street food menu.”
Clayton started his company in 2015 with his brother and they began with catering and operating food trucks in Los Angeles.
They heard about the food hall at the Kamloops Farmers' Market and decided to take a chance.
This will be their first bricks and mortar location where they will be serving up their “signature hearty bowls, loaded hoagies, batter-fried cauliflower wings and ‘meetball’ tacos.”
“The Food Hall will provide a unique dining experience for our guests, and we hope to bring our enthusiasm to make the entire vision a success,” said Clayton.
Other confirmed vendors include Pizza Pi, Harvest Moon Bakery, Mittz & Co. and two stalls have yet to be named but will be serving fresh pasta and street tacos.
Mitton explains that entrepreneurs can benefit from sharing the space, marketing and customers while learning new tips and tricks from each other.
“It’s collective collaboration at its finest in celebration of great food, great drinks, and coming together as a community,” finished Mitton.
