An estimated $70,000 in contraband was seized at a BC prison, says Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
Staff members at the Mountain Institution, a medium-security prison in Agassiz, found a package containing contraband and other unauthorized items on Oct. 24.
According to SC, the contraband was found on the perimeter of the prison and included cannabis concentrates.
The police have been notified and the prison is investigating.
The CSC said they use a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering prisons, including ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors,
“CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions,” the CSC said in a news release.
