They won’t be forced to respond to fires in their underwear, but North Vancouver firefighters are hoping to track down their stolen uniforms.
Mounties in the Lower Mainland city are investigating the theft of several North Vancouver City Fire Department (NVCFD) uniforms while they were out for dry cleaning.
Police obtained footage of the break-and-enter to the local dry cleaner in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 5.
The footage shows a man wearing a balaclava as he steals several NVCFD uniforms that were hanging on a rack.
A total of four shirts with the NVCFD crest and two pairs of black pants were taken, the North Vancouver RCMP said.
“Police are concerned that an unauthorized individual may try to wear the uniform to commit further crimes by impersonating a firefighter,” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak.
“Out of an abundance of caution, if anyone is suspicious of someone wearing a firefighting uniform, they are encouraged to request further identification, such as employee ID, to confirm their identity.”
Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact the North Vancouver RCMP by calling 604-985-1311.
