Kamloops native Sawyer Mynio has signed with the Vancouver Canucks on a three-year, entry-level contract.
Mynio was drafted by the Canucks this past summer when the organization took him 89th overall in the NHL draft.
“Sawyer has gained some valuable experience since we drafted him, taking part in our summer development camp, Penticton Young Stars tournament and our training camp in Victoria,” said Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin.
“We have liked the way he has looked on the ice and our staff is looking forward to helping him improve his game and skillset in the years to come.”
The 18-year-old is heading into his third season with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds.
During the 2022-23 campaign, the defenceman appeared in 68 games, scoring five goals and 26 assists.
In the playoffs, he played in 19 games, accumulating one goal and three assists en route to a WHL championship.
Mynio finished the season tied for fourth place among defencemen in the WHL with the best plus-minus rating at +50.
