Dozens more temperature records have been set across British Columbia.
It comes as the province continues to endure a heat wave, with temperatures pushing toward – and even surpassing – 40ºC in some areas.
The following areas were among those to set a new record for July 9:
Kelowna: New record 39.3ºC; old record 38.6ºC set in 2015
Kamloops: New record 40.6ºC; old record 38.6ºC set in 2015
Penticton: New record 38.4ºC; old record 37.2ºC set in 1919
Vernon: New record 39.6ºC; old record 36.7ºC set in 1905
Prince George: New record 33ºC; old record 32.2ºC set in 1926
Williams Lake: New record 35.1ºC; old record 31.7ºC set in 1975
Cache Creek (Ashcroft): New record 42.1ºC; old record 40.2 set in 2015
Records have been broken on multiple occasions in recent days, including on Sunday and Monday.
The hot and dry weather has sparked fears of wildfires and heat-related illnesses across BC.
