A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by Environment Canada for parts of the BC Interior this Sunday afternoon.
The warning covers Penticton, Kelowna, Kamloops, Merritt and other surrounding areas.
“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,” reads the warning.
Environment Canada added that people should be prepared for severe weather and to take cover immediately if it approaches, adding that “lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.”
